Monique Chavoya Promoted to Project Director, Joins McCormack Baron Salazar Texas Office

September 29, 2014 | McCormack Baron Salazar

McCormack Baron Salazar is pleased to announce that Monique Chavoya, formerly a project manager in the company’s West Coast office, has been promoted to Project Director and has relocated to the San Antonio/Texas office.

Ms. Chavoya joined the urban development company in 2007 from East LA Community Corporation, a non-profit affordable housing developer.  As part of the West Coast office, she served as project manager for the $45 million MacArthur Park Metro Transit-Oriented Development Project.  The MacArthur Park TOD was a two sub-phase program financed through New Markets Tax Credits and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.  She also closed the $14 million Variety Boys and Girls Club of Boyle Heights New Markets Tax Credit project.

In her new role, Ms. Chavoya will support all Texas initiatives and, in particular, the Wheatley Courts/East Side Choice Neighborhood in San Antonio, which includes the development of 417 new mixed-income homes in a mixed-use community.

“As our footprint and opportunities in Texas continue to expand, so does our need for talented, locally-based project managers who understand both our development model and the nuances of Texas development,” explained Tony Salazar, President, West Coast Operations, McCormack Baron Salazar.  “Monique has the intelligence and drive to bring complicated mixed-financed projects liked Wheatley Courts to fruition and we are pleased that she is willing to make this commitment to us and bring her skills and expertise to Texas.”

Ms. Chavoya will be based in San Antonio and will report to Lou Bernardy, Senior Vice President and Director of Development, Texas.
