Fairfield

Pittsburgh, PA

The Fairfield apartment community is located on a highly visible site in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Previously, the site was a financially-troubled, obsolete housing development that had significant drug activity that negatively affected the expansion of positive redevelopment on the eastern edge of East Liberty. McCormack Baron Salazar, the City of Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority, and the neighborhood community development corporation, East Liberty Development, Inc., saw potential in this disinvested site. It is two blocks from a revitalizing commercial district, in an area of the City surrounded by some of the most affluent neighborhoods in the City of Pittsburgh’s East End.

Critical to the continuing revitalization of the neighborhood, Fairfield helps to set the tone for future residential development in the community. The 5.44 acre development includes 195 rental homes in townhouses and garden apartments that are affordable to families with a range of incomes. The variety of apartment types and architectural styles face traditional neighborhood streets which result in both individual privacy and a vibrant community. Residents benefit from multiple community amenities including pedestrian access to shops, grocery stores, transit and jobs, free community-wide Wi-Fi and affordable broadband service, tot lots, a fitness room and ample green space.

Fairfield is energy-efficient and is part of a broader LEED Stage 1 Certified Silver Neighborhood Development.
